The Health Information field is a constant learning process, and there are so many avenues you can pursue professionally. I set out to get my bachelor’s degree with the goal of enhancing my skills as a manager, understanding the full revenue cycle in healthcare, and to learn as much as I can about the business side of HIM.
This journey has been anything but easy. It often means long days and even longer nights, working to meet the demands of both work and school. Balancing deadlines, assignments, and projects definitely requires a high level of organization and prioritization. It can be done successfully though! Time management has been my top priority. Every minute is precious and I carefully schedule and prioritize everything.
Another important element for me is to take care of myself amidst all this busyness. I try to find even small moments for relaxation or self-care to maintain my well-being. And while my social life is on hold temporarily, I know my hard work and dedication will pay off in the long run.
While the path of balancing school and work has been challenging, it’s also incredibly rewarding. During this journey, I have found that my work experience at LexiCode has really helped me bring real world knowledge and experience to my classes. And I am able to take concepts studied and apply them in my work life. It is allowing me to expand my knowledge and achieve personal and professional growth.
If you choose to pursue further education while working full time as I have, keep pushing forward! And don’t forget to celebrate your achievements along the way, no matter how small they may seem.
